Technology evolves. Telephones replaced the telegraph. Smart phones replace the wired phones. ATMs replaced long lines at the bank.
Now is the time for the evolution of postal mail delivery.
One other patent involving internet delivery of postal mail was developed by Sansome et. al. and is owned by Pitney Bowes.
With the Sansome process recipients are notified when mailpieces are received. Recipients may then decide what they want done with the mailpiece. They may have it forwarded to a certain address, scanned then sent via PDF, or shredded.
With the PaperlessMail process
Recipients receive their full mailpiece sooner because the full PDF of the mailpiece is delivered right away to them. There is no delay asking them what to do with the mailpiece.
No sorting of the physical mailpieces is needed. Costs are reduced by having the computer sort the PDF files.
